Raspberry Honeywine awarded 2007 "Best Fruit Wine" at Wineries Unlimited Symposium

POSTED: MAR 12, 2007

Prairie Berry Winery's Raspberry Honeywine took the crown away from sister wine, Red Ass Rhubarb last week in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania at the annual national wine industry event coordinated by Vineyard & Winery Management Magazine.

Red Ass Rhubarb, a raspberry-rhubarb blend wine also made by Prairie Berry Winery in Hill City, South Dakota, was named "Best Fruit Wine East of the Rockies" in both 2005 and 2006. Last week the 2007 winner was announced to be Raspberry Honeywine, a sweet mead created from a blend of ripe raspberries and South Dakota harvested clover honey.

Red Ass Rhubarb has maintained a spot of honor for 2007 however. It has been named to the "100 Best of the East" a list determined by Vineyard & Winery Management Magazine and announced at the Wineries Unlimited Symposium which names the 100 top award-winning wines made east of the Rocky Mountains in 2006.
