New Tanks Arrive for Production Expansion

POSTED: JUN 12, 2009

The first 10,500 gallon tank goes into placeOn March 2 of this year, Prairie Berry Winery broke ground on an expansion of the wine production area, doubling its size. Three spring blizzards and many days of rain delayed progress, but on June 12, six weeks after they were ready, three new fermentation and storage tanks arrived at Prairie Berry Winery. Each has a capacity of 10,560 gallons.

The tanks will be housed in the new production area, which is being added on to the existing winery. Each tank had to be craned into place before the roof can be installed. The crane used for the job, shown in the photo at left, is 115 feet tall.

The third tank was the most interesting placement, as it was positioned carefully in between the first two, with not a lot of space in between.

Tank #3 is Placed in the Middle Owner Matt Keck says the rest of the expanded facility surrounding and including the new tanks should be up and running by the end of July, allowing Prairie Berry Winery to produce wines in larger quantities than ever before.
