Biking, hiking, fishing, exploring, spelunking…we love the Black Hills. We work in them, play in them, and draw inspiration from them, so it’s no surprise that we consider ourselves a part of them. Here are five more reasons to include Prairie Berry Winery in your Black Hills adventures:

1. Bring the whole family—Prairie Berry Winery is kid-friendly!

We’re a half hour’s drive (or less) from a host of family-friendly activities. Whether your outing takes you to marvel at Mount Rushmore or chase that elusive trophy fish in the nearby creeks and lakes, Prairie Berry welcomes all ages to unwind in the Tasting Room or on the patio. With gourmet sodas and a children’s menu in the kitchen

2. Whether you’re playing for family bragging rights or to see who buys dinner, we have a variety of free games to get your competitive juices flowing.

Stay cool indoors (and close to a refill) with a game of checkers in the Tasting Room, or head out to the lawn to toss some beanbags. You can also take wine and food down to Miner Brewing Company to enjoy a hand of cards, a round of miniature disc golf, or—soon—some bocce ball.

3. There’s always something new to discover!

Try Sparkling Red Ass Rhubarb for a new spin on our most award-winning wine, or pick up a recent release like Raspberry Honeywine. Looking to beat the summer heat? Ask an associate about wine cocktail recipes to give your favorite wine a new twist, or pick up some Frostbite Wine Freeze, our wine slush mix that turns any wine into a frozen, snow cone like treat.

4. Wine and dine.

Maybe you’ve worked up an appetite hiking in Custer State Park or waterskiing on Sheridan Lake; or maybe you just need a little snack. The Prairie Berry kitchen is Trip Advisor’s top-rated restaurant in the Hill City area, and offers a variety of freshly prepared sandwiches, pizzas, salads, soups, and desserts intended to pair perfectly with our wines. For lighter fare, try a selection from our epicurean menu, or grab some artisan meats and cheeses from the Tasting Room cooler.

5. Our brewery is next door!

Get to know the other side of Winemaker Sandi—Brewmaster Sandi! Sandi has been making beer almost as long as she has wine, and craft beers at Miner Brewing Company draw on many of the same South Dakota influences as wines from Prairie Berry Winery. The Miner Brewing Tap Room has more than a dozen taps and offers seasonal and specialty beers alongside standbys like Mango Cream Ale, Irish Red Ale, and Dr. Valentine IIPA.
