Our family heritage runs tandem with the birth of The Dakota Territory and the history of Deadwood. In 1876, an immigrant family moved to Mound City, and the Black Hills Gold Rush was at its peak, bringing into the area so many colorful characters: Calamity Jane, Poker Alice, Wild Bill, and Potato Creek Johnny.
Our family winemaking legacy eventually led to the founding of Prairie Berry Winery. Today, with our Deadwood wine, we honor the neighboring town and its fascinating history.
